DJ Bio

Paul E. Lopes began DJing in 1983 at block parties held in his Toronto neighbourhood. While attending Harris Institute of the Arts Lopes hosted and produced his ground breaking college radio show Vibes N’ Stuff on CIUT 89.5FM.
Music naturally followed him throughout his career; journalist for Street Sound magazine, programming for Air Canada’s In-flight entertainment, releasing Whatnaut:House his DJ mix album for Virgin/EMI Canada as well as vinyl on his own Whatnaut Records.

DJ Paul E. Lopes has performed for many events, tours and artists including TIFF, Pride, Do-Over, TD Toronto Jazz Festival, Hugo Boss, Harbourfront Centre, Amy Winehouse, The Roots, Erykah Badu, and De La Soul. He is also the co-promoter of the legendary Bump N’ Hustle, which recently celebrated 18 years of playing, as Lopes has always said “good music for good people!”
